Dale KERR GENGE   For Mayor, For Taxpayers

Council should not pursue vanity or "nice-to-do" projects. Spending should reflect the priorities, concerns, and values of the community. Taxpayers should never feel like decisions are being made behind closed doors or that decisions have been made without due consideration of the well-being and interests of the municipality. That begins with listening and creating opportunities for Taxpayers to express their views about the services being provided, or not provided, by the municipality. To renew trust and confidence, Council and staff need to be prepared to respond to criticism, to be open about why decisions are made, and provide regular communication that is clear and transparent.

Dale will:

  • Hold regular Town Hall meetings to promote two-way communication;
  • Publicize tentative meeting agendas four weeks in advance of the Council meeting, providing Taxpayers an opportunity to research and understand issues and prepare to speak to Council prior to decisions being made;
  • Meet one-on-one, or with groups, for open dialogue about issues of concern.

Dale

Setting the budget is the most important decision Council makes. Dale will ensure that the budget process is more transparent, committing to meeting with residents to discuss their issues of concern and working to address those concerns in the budget.
