Dale grew up in Toronto, moving to Georgina with her husband Jerry in 1989. They first settled in Pefferlaw, then moved to Jackson's Point in 1996, where they still live.
Dale has always had a passion for sports. She played soccer for over 30 years, including at the most competitive levels in the province, eventually retiring after realizing she was older than most of her teammate's parents. At university, Dale played on all the women's engineering intramural sports teams and was the President of the Engineering Athletic Association for 2 years. Dale was also Chair of the University of Toronto Women's Intramural Committee in her last year. While working on her Masters, Dale played on U of T's first women's varsity soccer team, once named the Ontario Universities Women's Athletic Associaton Athlete of the Week.
When Dale was in Grade 9, her parents put an addition on the house, which sparked Dale's interest in buildings and construction. While she considered studying architecture, she eventually opted to study civil engineering at U of T, obtaining a Masters of Engineering degree.
Dale also has a love of music, taking piano lessons as a child, playing trumpet in her high school band and orchestra, and learning to play the drums (although not well) later in life.
Dale and Jerry have three adult children and a daughter-in-law, all of whom grew up in Georgina and all of whom reside in Jackson's Point. They also have a granddaughter who will be two in October, with another one on the way, also due in October. In her spare time, Dale enjoys crossword puzzles and other word and number games, as well as spending time with her dogs - a collie and a Sheltie puppy, Mr. Smith (Smitty) named after her first soccer coach.
